Terms of Service

Last updated July 20, 2026

The short version: be decent, don't abuse the service, and what you create here is yours. dndplaybook is run by one person — these terms exist to protect the project so it can keep existing, not to trap you.

1. Who we are

dndplaybook.com ("the Service") is an independent project operated by Charles Bowen in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By creating an account or buying credits, you agree to these terms.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 to use the Service. Keep your login details safe — you're responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person; give us accurate information when you register.

3. Credits and payment

Credits are prepaid units you spend on AI generations (artwork, miniatures, and similar features). You buy them in packs via Stripe at the prices shown at checkout. Credits aren't money: they have no cash value, can't be transferred or resold, and free promotional credits (like the signup grant) can't be refunded. We may change credit pricing for future purchases; credits you already hold are unaffected.

4. Refunds

If a credit pack is entirely unspent, you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase — email us and we'll process it. Once you start spending credits from a pack, the statutory right to cancel lapses (at checkout you consent to the service beginning immediately), and spent credits can't be refunded.

That's the legal baseline — but honestly: if something went wrong, a generation failed, or you're genuinely unhappy with a purchase, get in touch anyway. We'd rather be kind than technically correct, and none of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

5. Your content

Everything you create on dndplaybook is yours. Your characters, worlds, stories, uploads, and the AI artwork and content generated from them belong to you, and you can use them however you like, including commercially. We only take the licenses we need to run the Service: hosting and displaying your content to you, and showing publicly whatever you choose to publish (Codex pages, shared links). We do not use your private creations for marketing or anything else. You're responsible for what you upload and generate — only upload reference images you have the right to use.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to create or share content that's illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or is intended to harm or harass real people. AI generations also pass through third-party AI providers, and their usage policies apply. Don't create multiple accounts to farm free credits, don't scrape or reverse-engineer the Service, and don't resell access to it.

7. Public content

Publishing to the Codex makes that content publicly viewable by anyone with the link, without an account. You can unpublish at any time. Search engines and social platforms may cache public pages after they're unpublished — that's outside our control.

8. The Service itself

dndplaybook is a one-person project provided "as is". We work hard to keep it fast and reliable, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability, and features may change or be retired as the project evolves. AI output is inherently variable — a generation that doesn't match your hopes isn't a defect (though see the Refunds section if something actually went wrong).

9. Ending things

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings; deleting your account forfeits remaining credits, so if you hold an unspent, refund-eligible pack, contact us before deleting. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — for serious violations (fraud, abuse, illegal content) without notice.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't legally be excluded, or affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

11. Unofficial content

dndplaybook is unofficial Fan Content and is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast. Portions of the rules content (stat blocks) use the System Reference Document 5.2, available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Dungeons & Dragons and D&D are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top shows the latest revision. For material changes we'll make the update visible before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a consumer elsewhere in the UK or EU, you keep any mandatory protections of your home country. Questions? Email admin@dndplaybook.com or use the Contact page.
