Draxis Bellowhorn
Minotaur, Fighter, Neutral Good
Backstory
Draxis Bellowhorn was born among the basalt cliffs of Redhorn Reach, where his clan raised goats, traded iron, and settled disputes in the ring rather than at the negotiating table. His father taught him to read trails by broken brush and hoofprints; his aunt taught him the clan’s old wrestling holds. Draxis learned early that strength meant little without control. A fighter who could stop a blow at the last instant earned more respect than one who left an enemy broken.
When Draxis was nineteen, raiders descended on the Reach during the winter market. He joined the defense with a wood axe and a shield too large for him, charging wherever the line buckled. The battle left three villagers dead and the raiders scattered, but Draxis remembered the moment he faced their captain most clearly: the ringing of steel, the cold air in his lungs, and the fierce joy of meeting a worthy opponent without fear. He won by disarming the captain, then spared his life and carried him to the village healer.
That fight changed what combat meant to Draxis. He craved the speed, danger, and sharp focus of battle, but not slaughter. A good fight revealed character, tested courage, and gave the strong a chance to stand between danger and those who could not face it. He began seeking out caravan guards, militia captains, and traveling duelists, learning sword, spear, and shield from anyone willing to teach him.
Draxis left Redhorn Reach after defeating a mercenary champion who had been extorting the mountain villages. Rather than claim the man’s purse, he made him return it coin by coin. Now Draxis travels as a sellsword with a strict rule: he accepts coin to face danger, never to create it. Each road promises a new place to protect, a harder opponent to meet, and the clean, honest thrill of battle against someone who believes they can bring him down.
