Corwin Stormbreeze

Minotaur, Paladin, Lawful Good

Description

Corwin Stormbreeze is a towering Minotaur Paladin, nearly eight feet tall, with a massive, battle-hardened frame. His dark bronze fur is streaked with silver, and his body bears numerous scars from years spent protecting the innocent. His most distinctive features are his horns of solid celestial gold, which curve majestically from his skull and gleam like twin crowns beneath the sun.

His eyes are impossible to forget. They glisten like burning diamonds, radiating an intense white brilliance whenever he looks upon the world. When calm, their light is warm and almost comforting. When confronted by evil, they become terrifying beacons of divine judgment.

Corwin wears battered obsidian chainmail beneath layers of scarred and battle-torn armor. His clothing is torn, weathered, and patched from years of war and travel. A faded emerald tabard bearing the symbol of Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon, hangs beneath his armor. His dark green cloak is riddled with tears and scars, yet he refuses to replace it, believing every mark represents someone he survived to protect.

Despite his intimidating appearance, Corwin rarely carries himself like a conqueror. He moves with the quiet presence of a guardian. His weapons are always within reach, however, and beneath his peaceful exterior lies a warrior prepared to kill without hesitation when innocent lives are threatened.

Backstory

Corwin was born among a proud Minotaur clan whose traditions valued strength, loyalty, and protection of the weak. From an early age, however, he questioned the belief that strength existed merely to dominate. To Corwin, true strength meant having the power to destroy something—and possessing the discipline to use that power only when necessary.

During his youth, a catastrophic storm devastated his homeland and separated Corwin from his people. Seeking shelter, he wandered into an ancient grove untouched by the destruction around it. There, beneath a sky filled with unnatural stars, he encountered a celestial servant of Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon and god of justice, honor, protection, and noble strength.

The celestial showed Corwin visions of the world: kingdoms consumed by war, innocents suffering beneath tyrants, and ancient forests dying beneath corruption. But he also witnessed acts of extraordinary courage—strangers protecting strangers, warriors laying down their weapons, and ordinary people choosing hope when despair would have been easier.

Corwin understood the lesson immediately. The world did not need another warrior seeking glory. It needed a guardian willing to stand between darkness and those who could not defend themselves.

Corwin knelt and swore himself to the Oath of the Ancients, promising to preserve life, protect the natural world, defend hope, and keep the light alive wherever darkness threatened to consume it.

As he spoke his oath, a column of celestial light descended upon him. His horns were transformed into pure gold, and divine radiance filled his eyes until they burned like diamonds. Bahamut's power awakened within him, granting him the abilities of a Paladin.

Since that day, Corwin has traveled the world as a wandering protector. He prays to Bahamut at dawn, offering thanks for another day and asking for the wisdom to know when mercy is required—and when the sword must answer.

His armor has become increasingly battered with every battle, but Corwin refuses to replace it. The scars across his obsidian chainmail are reminders of the people standing behind him when he fought. To Corwin, worn armor is not a symbol of weakness. It is proof that he has been where he was needed.

Personality

Corwin is lawful good, disciplined, honorable, and deeply compassionate. He believes laws exist to protect people rather than empower those who enforce them, and he will respect legitimate authority while refusing to obey commands that demand cruelty or injustice.

He is surprisingly peaceful for someone capable of tremendous violence. Corwin enjoys quiet forests, campfires, music, old stories, and simple conversations with ordinary people. He has a particular fondness for children, whom he believes should grow up knowing the world can still be beautiful.

He rarely raises his voice. He does not threaten people unnecessarily. He does not boast about his victories. Instead, Corwin possesses an almost unnerving calmness.

That calm should never be mistaken for weakness.

Corwin understands exactly what he is capable of. He has killed before, and he will kill again if necessary. He does not enjoy taking life, but neither does he romanticize violence. When an enemy threatens innocent lives and refuses every opportunity to surrender, Corwin becomes utterly decisive.

His greatest virtue is his protective instinct. Once Corwin considers someone under his protection, he will place himself between them and almost any danger without hesitation.

His greatest struggle is determining where mercy ends and justice begins.

Corwin believes every creature deserves the opportunity to choose redemption—but he also believes there are moments when allowing evil to continue is itself an injustice.

His personal creed is simple:

"I will offer peace until peace is refused. I will offer mercy until mercy is abused. And when darkness comes for the innocent, I will become the shield it cannot break."
