Kalyth Vhorian
Sea Elf, Barbarian, Neutral
Description
A male Sea Elf merman with the upper body, arms, and head of a fair-featured human and a fish-like tail from the hips down. He has broad shoulders, very light blue skin, light brown hair, gill slits along his neck, slight webbing between his fingers, and silver-toned pupils. Tattooed patterns cover his chest. He measures about eight feet from head to tail, with vibrant-colored scales along his merfolk tail.
Backstory
Kalyth Vhorian was raised among the Sea Elf citadels of a reef-choked coast, where tattooed chest markings recorded family oaths, rescues, and debts owed to the drowned. His broad frame made him a strong swimmer and a reliable guardian, but his curiosity pulled him beyond the warded waters. During a storm, he found a wrecked surface vessel caught in a field of coral and heard survivors trapped below deck. Kalyth freed them instead of following his patrol orders, saving a handful of sailors while losing the relic his people had sent him to recover. The survivors carried his name inland, while his own kin branded him reckless. Now he travels between shore and sea, seeking the lost relic, repaying the lives saved that night, and deciding whether his loyalty belongs to his birth-citadel or to the people who need him.
Personality
Kalyth studies every room as if it were a tide pool, watching who moves first and what gets left behind. He speaks in a calm, measured voice, but taps two webbed fingers against his tattooed chest when impatience rises. He collects surface-world expressions and uses them with absolute confidence, even when he has misunderstood their meaning. Kalyth offers help before anyone asks, especially when someone is trapped, cornered, or outnumbered. He dislikes dry heat, crowded docks, and conversations held without a clear view of the nearest water.
