Thimblethwae Mosswhistle

Thimblethwae Mosswhistle

Gnome, Druid, Neutral

Description

Thimblethwae Mosswhistle stands even shorter than most gnomes, her soft blonde hair falling in wisps around a youthful face. She dresses for close work in the wild: a plain, muted-earth tunic, a patched skirt mottled with clay stains, and sturdy little boots worn smooth at the toes. A sprig of fresh greenery sits behind one ear, while bits of soil cling to her hems. Her presence carries a quiet, root-deep natural calm.

Backstory

Thimblethwae Mosswhistle was born among the burrow-gardens of Bramblefoot Hollow, where gnomes grew turnips beneath mushroom lanterns and traded seeds by the handful. As a child, she spent more time beneath hedges than at the workbench, listening to roots shift in the dark soil. When a summer fire raced through the surrounding hills, the village well ran dry, and the old druids could not reach every scorched grove. Thimblethwae followed a fox trail to a spring hidden under ash and guided water back to the gardens. She has wandered ever since, tending wounded places, collecting seeds, and leaving each patch of earth healthier than she found it.

Personality

Thimblethwae speaks softly, but never wastes a word; she would rather point out a fox’s tracks than explain where she has been. She greets strangers by asking what grows near their homes, then remembers the answer months later. Around camp, she mends torn clothes with grass fiber, shares food with any animal bold enough to approach, and leaves small offerings of seed or bread at old trees. She dislikes crowded rooms, loud boasting, and anyone who breaks a living thing without need. Anger makes her quieter, not louder: she withdraws, studies the ground, and waits until she knows exactly what must be done. Under pressure, her calm becomes stubborn focus. If frightened, she plants both boots, grips a sprig of greenery, and refuses to retreat while another creature remains in danger.
