Webbed fingers tighten the grip on a salt-worn spear. He speaks in short calls over waves, then corrects his own stance if the tide turns against him.

Teryn learned the reef channels as a child, memorizing where a hull could pass and where coral would tear it open. During a raid against slavers, he moved through the dark water with a boarding spear and cut prisoners free before the alarm spread. The fight taught him that noise was a weapon with a cost: every shouted order drew blades toward the helpless. Since then, he has trained to strike without warning and give commands in signals his allies can read through spray and darkness. Quiet never lasts when captives are in danger.

Teryn counts rope coils, spear hafts, and exits before he settles anywhere. He communicates with clipped calls, hand signs, and taps against his shield rim, saving full sentences for plans that cannot be misunderstood.
