Thordek Baldohr
Dwarf, Paladin
Backstory
Thordek Baldohr was born under the iron bells of Hold Baldohr, a mountain stronghold where hammers sang and the faith of Moradin warmed every forge. He learned the trade of the smith and the law of kin beneath his father\'s stern but fair guidance, shaping steel and carving runes with equal devotion. When a band of marauding duergar and a corrupt human lord conspired to raze their hold and sell the survivors into slavery, Thordek failed to rally his kinsmen in time; the flames took his father and the ancestral forge. He awoke in a snowdrift at the edge of the ruined hold with a warhammer in hand and a vow in his heart — to answer his failure with service. In the cold light of dawn he swore a paladin\'s oath on the embers of his clan\'s crest, pledging himself to defend the helpless, strike down oppressors, and restore honor to his family name.
Now Thordek travels under a cloak smeared with soot and blood, a stout silhouette that moves with the slow certainty of the mountain. He carries Baldohr\'s Light, a hammer singed by dragonfire and blessed in the name of his patron, and he wears a battered breastplate engraved with runes for endurance and truth. He speaks little, preferring deeds to boasts, and believes that redemption is earned through labor, mercy, and the stern application of justice. Thordek seeks survivors, tracks the corrupt noble who bought his people\'s fate, and searches for lost relics that could revive his hold; where oppression rises, he answers, and where craftsmen need hands, he will smelt and mend. Though his humor is as dry as old stone and his temper as short as a miner\'s pick, he stands as an immovable bulwark for those who cannot stand for themselves, and he will not rest until the forge of Baldohr burns bright again.
