Felix Ashcroft

He is a fire genasi that closely resembles his wood half-elf father. He has coppery tanned skin and dark auburn hair that he keeps fairly short in wispy locks that almost seem to defy gravity. His eyes are a deep amber color that someone up close might say they seem to glow. He is 6 feet tall, has a lean, athletic build that often belies how strong he actually is. He is often very scantly clad as he naturally runs very hot and wearing a lot of layers feels suffocating. His preferred outfit of choice usually consists of a pair of billowy linen trousers that stop shortly below his knees, a dark leather vest that he seldom buttons up (if he's wearing it at all), and a pair of leather sandals that lace up around his calf (that he also sometimes foregoes).

Felix has a complicated relationship with his fire genasi ancestry. His innkeeper half-elf (wood elf) father, Tameron Ashcroft, met his fire genasi mother, "Cindy" (Cinder), when she was in town with her adventuring party. A mild flirtation quickly grew into a fiery fling before she was back on the road. Felix's father didn't expect to see her again, but she showed up a year later with a small infant she informed him was his. Given her free-spirited nature, and life as an adventurer, she thought it best the child be raised by his father. Though hesitant about his new role as a father, Tameron rose to the occasion and quickly become bonded with his child, but knew there would be much about his genasi nature that he wouldn't be able to control.

Naturally quick to lose his temper, Felix learned early on that doing so would cause his genasi traits to increase dramatically: hair becoming living flame, eyes glowing like dark embers, his skin giving off a brimstone scent. Unfortunately, others in his village learned this about him too. In particular, the other children would literally fan the flames to get a rise out of him in the hopes of making him ignite for their own amusement. This caused Felix to resent his genasi nature, even though he knew that it could be the source for something that could set him apart from others in a positive way.

By the time he was a young adult, he had enough of life in his village. Both because he was never able to truly connect with anyone there other than his father and because there was a restless part of him that wanted to be free and unrestrained by tedium. As much as he would miss his father, he also felt that leaving town would make things easier for him so people would stop seeing him as "the guy with the son that catches fire." So he took to the open road and quickly became a mercenary, finding that his volatile temperament imbues him with an inner strength that can be very handy in certain situation.

But still, since people's reactions to seeing a fire genasi can range from seeing him as an odd curiosity to being "too different to be accepted", he tries to keep his true self concealed when he meets new people for as long as he can. Unfortunately, he can only keep up the charade of being just a half-elf for so long before his fiery temper emerges in the heat of battle. But a bigger reason why he always tries to suppress this side of him these days is because he knows he can't always control his actions when he gets that worked up. Is it his fire genasi half or is it simply the struggles of being a barbarian? Felix doesn't know, and he's perhaps a bit too scared to ask.

In addition to seeking the freedom of the open road, another reason he set out on this journey was hoping to reunite with his mother, "Cindy." His father seldom talked about her and what little he did share didn't offer much in the ways of locating her. Now that he's been on the road for a few years, Felix understands why his mother would've left him behind if she was an adventurer facing danger at every turn. But, why did she never come back even to visit? As much as he dreads the answer to this question most of all, Felix knows he needs it to get true closure on that part of his life.

He can be quiet and reserved at first, since he knows his temperament with he gets fired off can be a lot for people to handle. This can sometimes make him come across as stand-offish, when in reality he's just being guarded. But he is also quick to rush into action and can be impatient and impulsive. He can be very passionate about the people and causes he loves. While he values his freedom and doesn't like to remain in one place for too long, he is deeply loyal to those he cares about. He is also an outspoken defender of those who cannot fend for themselves. This can also bring out his darker, more intimidating side. Making an enemy is usually a very bad idea, as he will blindly seek retribution until it is delivered, especially when it is on behalf of others.
