Mougen
Duergar, Barbarian, Lawful Evil
Description
A muscular Duergar dwarf with gray skin, a long white beard, and a white mohawk. Tattoo lines run across his body. He wears loose, baggy pants with wraps around his feet and forearms, leaving his torso bare. Mougen dual-wields axes, carrying himself with the disciplined menace of a warrior who treats violence as a practiced craft.
Backstory
Mougen was raised beneath the stone in a Duergar hold where obedience kept miners alive and hesitation buried them. He learned to fight with an axe in each hand, not as a display of fury but as a precise method: one blade to control, the other to finish. A monastic drillmaster later taught him footwork, breath control, and how to turn pain into a signal rather than a command. Mougen kept the lessons and discarded the mercy. He now travels as an enforcer, accepting contracts that reward discipline, intimidation, and complete compliance.
Personality
Mougen counts his breaths before entering a fight and taps each axe against his palm while weighing a decision. He speaks in short commands, expects answers without excuses, and keeps his beard braided with plain iron rings that mark completed contracts. He respects anyone who keeps an oath, even an enemy, but treats disobedience as a debt that must be collected.
Flaws
Mougen confuses control with virtue. He will follow a cruel order if it was given according to the rules, then punish himself with harder training rather than admit the order was wrong. Insults toward his discipline provoke him faster than threats against his life, and he would rather lose a battle than retreat without permission.
Motivations
Mougen seeks a position where every command carries legal force and every failure has a name attached to it. He wants to build a reputation so severe that rivals surrender before his axes leave their loops. Beneath that ambition lies a private goal: to prove that the discipline he learned can master the rage Duergar elders claimed was his birthright.
