Emberwave

Air Genasi, Sorcerer, Neutral Good

Description

A beautiful winged genasi woman with light blue skin, ember-red hair, and pale blue eyes that shimmer like sunlit water. Flame glows beneath her skin when her magic stirs, gathering at her fingertips in sparks and curling around her wrists like ribbons. Broad feathered wings fade from sea-glass blue at the shoulders to copper and crimson at the tips. She wears dancer’s clothes cut for movement: layered gauze, fitted leather, and small bronze bells that ring softly with each step. Her beauty carries both elements of her heritage—the cool sheen of water and the heat of a banked fire.

Backstory

Her mother was a water nymph who danced beside a river where warm springs fed the reeds. Her father’s name is unknown, but fire answered her before she could speak, flaring in her palms whenever music moved her. She learned to dance from her mother and to control her magic by matching each spell to a step, a turn, or a sharp sweep of the arm. When her wings first opened, a burst of flame scorched the riverbank and sent her mother fleeing into the water. She has spent years performing in riverside towns, searching for news of the nymph while mastering the draconic fire that burns beneath her skin.

Personality

She keeps time with her fingers against tabletops, sword hilts, and doorframes. Before casting, she takes one dance step—even in a cramped room. She speaks warmly to strangers but watches their hands when they mention rivers, springs, or nymphs. Compliments make her grin; pity makes her change the subject.

Flaws

She cannot resist performing when a crowd gathers, even when silence would be safer. Fear of losing control makes her hide injuries and magical exhaustion behind a smile. She assumes every quiet pool might carry a message from her mother, and enemies have learned to exploit that hope.

Motivations

She wants to find her mother and learn why the nymph vanished after her first uncontrolled blaze. Until then, she travels wherever music, rumors, and open skies lead, using her performances to earn passage and her fire to protect people who cannot protect themselves.
