Mutated Shadow Manticore

A large battle scared Manticore, but patches of it look like they've been altered or changed and have a coating of pure obsidian black liquid looking material that doesn't reflect the light lining it's right hind leg and left forward claw. It's tail is also coated in the strange material, but half of his face is the same black, but where one eye looks normal and is an amber color, the other is a fierce and vibrant, glowing purple. The spots where the manticore has turned black give off some kind of wispy black aura that tries to drain away the light.

It looks more wild than a normal manticore, more crazed and somehow more dangerous.

This manticore use to roam the wilderness as the peak of its food chain, but that was before it was captured and brought to the arena, within the underbelly of the Coliseum, the dark patron of the arena experimented on the manticore to see what traits and enhancements he could grant the beast to make the show more brutal, and more terrifying. Though the experiments didn't quite achieve what the dark sorcerer had originally intended, he did not fear the monster he had created, so he continued to set him loose in the arena, and teaching the creature to use the so called "gifts" he had been given to his advantage, and continued to refine his handiwork, and soon, the manticore would have his freedom, but not yet...

Most people who enter the arena have hopes of only remaining for the rounds with other people combatants and want to make it out before the beasts have their turn...

But very few are lucky enough to even survive against the other gladiators, those that do, the chosen few, rarely get to leave the arena the way they hope, or in the same condition as they entered.

Over the last two years, the dark patron of the Coliseum has been enhancing and mutating the manticore, but the manticore has also been getting smarter, still under the dark sorcerer's control, but learning how to better use the new traits his tormenter has given him, and continuing to embrace the new monster that he has become.

Among the base stats and tactics of a manticore, this one has had its intelligence increased, it's natural fur coat altered to camouflage better with shadows and darkness, and has been given the limited ability to shift through shadows. And because of its mutated appearance, altered size, heightened senses and passive aura of darkness, it can induce a deep primal fear in its prey if they do not hold fast to their courage...
