The Discordant Chord

The Discordant Chord (Artifact Lute) Wondrous Item (Lute), Artifact (Requires Attunement by a Tiefling, Bard of Whispers) This lute is crafted from the same lacquered ebony as Tav'ani's own instrument, but its strings are woven from pure shadow and frozen hellfire. When strummed, it doesn't just make sound; it whispers dark secrets directly into the minds of those nearby.

Crafted by the Maestro of trickery mischief and music himself (Tav'ani a Tiefling deity), as a secondary instrument as a backup hasn't seen much use in centuries, but has been maintained and cared for in the hope that someday Tav'ani might meet a fellow trickster with a taste for mischief and music to bestow it apon, to continue mischievous work on the mortal plane, if they prove worthy of his gift and his calling...

Trickster’s Edge: While holding this lute, you gain a +2 bonus to spell attack rolls, your Bard spell save DC, and your Swashbuckler initiative rolls.

The Shadow's Fancy: When you use your Fancy Footwork feature to prevent a creature from making opportunity attacks against you, you leave behind an illusory shadow duplicate. The next attack made against you before the start of your next turn has disadvantage as it targets the illusion instead.

Venomous Whispers: When you use your Psychic Blades feature to deal extra psychic damage on a weapon attack, you can expend 1 charge from the lute to force the target to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, they are also affected by the Suggestion spell for 1 minute, compelled by a dark whisper only they can hear.

Spells: The lute has 3 charges (regaining all at midnight). You can use an action to expend charges to cast the following spells without material components: Dissonant Whispers (1 charge, cast at 5th level), Mislead (2 charges), or Invisibility (1 charge).
