Spark-shear Dagger
Weapon, Rare, Requires Attunement
Description
The Sparkshear Dagger
Weapon (Dagger), Rare (Requires Attunement)
Visual Description
This weapon looks like a magnificent fusion of mechanical precision and wild magic. The hilt and crossguard are crafted from intricate, interlocking brass gears and copper clockwork coils (classic Rock Gnome design), which seamlessly fuse into a blade forged from heat-treated fey-iron. The steel itself is a dark, iridescent oil-slick rainbow color that shimmers like heated volcanic glass. Small, geometric root-like patterns are etched into the flat of the blade. When held by an attuned wielder, tiny, harmless sparks of orange wildfire constantly snap and pop from the brass gears.
The Mechanics
You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Gnomish Combustion Gear (1 Charge/Day):
As a bonus action, you twist the gear on the pommel, locking the mechanical springs into place. Your next successful melee attack with this dagger on this turn unleashes a pressurized burst of kinetic flame. The target takes an extra 2d6 fire damage and must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet away from you as the mechanical components forcefully hiss and vent steam.
Volatile Harvest:
The dagger acts as a compass for the strange minerals used to build it. While holding it, you have advantage on Intelligence (Investigation) or Wisdom (Survival) checks made to locate hidden veins of precious metals, magical minerals, or bioluminescent fey flora.
The Vanna Retaliation:
The Vanna smiths designed the blade to exploit their enemies. If you hit a creature that has a walking speed that has been reduced to 0 (such as a target pinned down, restrained, or prone), the dagger deals an extra 1d4 piercing damage as the serrated edge twists smoothly into the target's weak points.
Lore
This weapon is a byproduct of the Mith'thil'vanna trading resources with the Gnomes of the nearby caves.
Most of the weapons the Vanna forge are their own, with their own flair and styling, but these daggers are a unique result of their combined efforts to make a weapon or tool that honors their alliance. The hilt was crafted and designed by the gnomes, and the blade was forged and designed by the Vanna Eladrin. A very potent mix that has left its mark on the blades as they are carried by the Vanna's hunters and the gnomes scouts alike...
