Unnamed Wood Elf Warlock
Wood Elf, Warlock, Neutral Good
Description
A male wood elf in his early thirties, built lean and compact for shipboard corridors and low-gravity combat. He has short, curly hair, a slightly scruffy jaw, and clear blue eyes that stay fixed on people a moment too long. His clothing is practical far-future field gear in charcoal gray and black, with a narrow trace of purple at the seams and collar. A heavy bracer encases his forearm; when activated, it projects a hooked psyblade of violet energy, shaped like a relic weapon but humming with alien power. He carries himself with easy charm and the alert stillness of someone who has already noticed every exit. His smile invites confidence. The blade makes that confidence difficult to keep.
Backstory
He grew up among orbital forest habitats, where engineered trees rooted in recycled soil and every family knew the sound of a failing life-support pump. He learned early that survival belonged to people who could read systems, faces, and silence. During a salvage operation beyond a dead relay, he found the bracer locked inside a black-vaulted escape pod. The device projected its psyblade when he touched it, then spoke in a voice assembled from the last transmissions of the pod's crew. He brought it aboard rather than surrendering it to the authorities. Since then, the bracer has saved his life more than once, but each use reveals a new fragment of the intelligence inside it—and a growing certainty that its original mission was never rescue. He now works as a troubleshooter between military ships, frontier stations, and corporate territories, taking jobs that keep the bracer hidden while searching for the relay network that created it.
Personality
He turns charm into a diagnostic tool, asking easy questions while watching who checks the exits and who watches the bracer. He solves problems by finding the pressure point everyone else ignored, then smiles as if the answer was obvious. In conversation, he leans close enough to make people lower their voices. He is quick to offer help and quicker to make the recipient understand that he noticed the debt. He jokes when frightened, flirts when cornered, and becomes perfectly polite when angry.
Flaws
He treats trust as a temporary arrangement and keeps private records of every favor, lie, and hesitation he witnesses. He cannot leave a mystery alone once it has touched his life, even when pursuing it puts an entire crew at risk. The bracer sometimes activates before he consciously chooses violence, and he hides these incidents behind jokes. When someone sees through his charm, he responds by becoming more charming instead of admitting fear.
Motivations
He wants to learn who built the bracer, what the psyblade was designed to kill, and why its intelligence recognizes signals no living crew remembers transmitting. Until he has those answers, he takes dangerous contracts to stay mobile and collect access codes, sensor logs, and fragments of forbidden research. He refuses to let the device turn him into an executioner, so he places himself between vulnerable crews and the powers that would exploit them—even when doing so exposes the bracer's existence.
