Kharok Stormscar

Goliath, Monk, Lawful Evil

Description

Kharok Stormscar is an enormous goliath, well over seven feet tall, built with the dense, brutal musculature of someone who has spent his life climbing, fighting, and surviving in the high mountains. His head is shaved nearly bare, his features severe and weather-beaten, with a heavy brow, flattened nose, and dark, deeply set eyes. Jagged lightning scars crawl across one side of his scalp, down his face and neck, and disappear beneath his clothing—pale, branching marks left by some terrible strike rather than tattoos. His appearance takes inspiration from Fahkumram from Tekken: imposing, scarred, almost unnaturally powerful, but without sacrificing the disciplined bearing of a monk.

He wears no conventional armor. His clothing is practical mountain garb in charcoal, faded earth tones, and soot-black cloth: loose trousers, heavy wraps around his forearms and hands, a sleeveless weathered tunic, and remnants of the layered garments once worn by a Warden of the Curtain. A dark hooded mantle helps conceal his size and features when he moves through Aden Mira, though there is only so much one can do to disguise a goliath of his stature. His equipment is sparse. He carries no obvious weapon; Kharok himself is the weapon.

Despite his size, the most unsettling thing about him is how little noise he makes. He doesn't lumber or swagger. His movements are economical, controlled, and unexpectedly graceful. When still, he can remain motionless enough to resemble part of the stone around him. When he decides to move, that enormous frame becomes frighteningly fast.

His demeanor is similarly restrained. Kharok doesn't snarl, posture, or threaten people unnecessarily. He speaks quietly and deliberately, rarely using more words than required. Anger manifests as greater stillness rather than shouting. He looks directly at people when they speak and has an uncomfortable habit of waiting several seconds before answering.

When his Warrior of Shadow abilities manifest, the contrast becomes even more unnatural: a man built like a siege engine simply disappears into darkness and reappears somewhere he physically shouldn't have been able to reach.

The overall impression should be:

A mountain given discipline.

Not a savage, not a berserker, and not an assassin by temperament—a former guardian who has reduced himself to purpose, and who has become willing to do terrible things in service of it.
