Archibald Ben-Wah Chompski

Archibald Ben-Wah Chompski

Gnome, Rogue, Chaotic Neutral

Description

Archibald Ben-Wah Chompski is a forest gnome standing four feet three inches tall, with long, unkempt brown hair and the weathered look of someone who spends more time in taverns than at home. A member of the Chompski clan, he grew up among twenty-five brothers and sisters, each pursuing a different path. Archibald chose crowded bars, quick fingers, stolen goods, and ridiculous acts performed wherever an audience can be found.

Backstory

Archibald Ben-Wah Chompski was raised in the Chompski clan alongside twenty-five brothers and sisters. No two siblings followed the same road, and Archibald learned early that a person could make a name for themselves simply by choosing the path nobody else expected. He found his among tavern tables, unlocked pockets, and the roar of a crowd waiting to see what foolish thing he would do next.

Archibald now drifts from bar to bar, robbing the careless, stealing what catches his eye, and turning ordinary evenings into spectacles. He might lift a purse during a drinking song, wager someone else's horse in a card game, or climb onto a bar and attempt a stunt that should have ended with broken bones. Somehow, he keeps moving—usually before the owners, guards, or victims can agree on exactly what happened.

Personality

Archibald treats every tavern like a stage and every stranger like a potential audience. He drums his fingers on tables, announces bad ideas with complete confidence, and grins widest when a plan has already gone wrong. He pockets small objects without thinking, then insists they were gifts if anyone notices.

He remembers the names of bartenders, card players, bouncers, and the regulars who once laughed at his stunts. When conversation grows dull, he creates a problem loud enough to restore everyone's interest.

Flaws

Archibald cannot leave a dare unanswered, a locked drawer unopened, or a suspiciously unattended purse untouched. He mistakes being entertaining for being untouchable and often stays too long after a theft because he wants to enjoy the reaction. His need to turn every room into a story makes stealth difficult whenever an audience is available.

Motivations

Archibald wants to become the most infamous Chompski—not through wealth or respect, but through stories that reach every tavern before he does. He steals to fund his next night, prove that he can outwit anyone guarding something valuable, and collect souvenirs from the ridiculous life he is building. Beneath the bravado, he wants his twenty-five siblings to hear his name and admit that, at least, nobody else in the clan is doing it quite like him.
