Unnamed Orc Paladin

Orc, Paladin, Lawful Good

Description

A grey-skinned orc paladin in dark chain mail and weather-stained traveler’s clothes. He carries a bloody halberd and wears the holy symbol of vengeance at his throat. His gear is practical and worn from long roads, open camps, and hard fighting.

Backstory

Born after an orc raid, he was abandoned at a nearby temple and raised by its acolytes. Their worship was peaceful, but the anger and resentment he carried in his blood found no rest in quiet prayer. He turned instead to the war god and took up the path of the paladin.

Exiled from civilized society and unwelcome among the savage tribes of his parentage, he became an outlander. He joined the Order of the Gauntlet, swearing to smite evil wherever it lurks and without hesitation. He remembers maps and terrain with near-perfect clarity, and can find food and fresh water for himself and five companions wherever the land provides them.

Personality

He feels more at ease beside animals than among people. Around a campfire, he listens to the forest and checks the wind before joining a conversation. He studies every road, ridge, and settlement he passes, storing the land in memory. In battle, he seeks witnesses for his deeds and measures his worth by the foes he brings down.

Flaws

Violence is his answer to almost any challenge. An insult becomes a provocation, a locked door becomes an obstacle to break, and a suspected evildoer rarely gets the chance to explain. Once his anger rises, the Order’s call for justice can blur with his own need for vengeance.

Motivations

He is driven to earn glory in battle and prove that exile has not made him lesser. He has sworn to bring terrible wrath down on evildoers, especially those who prey on the helpless. Each victory is both a service to the Order of the Gauntlet and an answer to the people who cast him out.
