Unnamed High Elf Duelist
High Elf, Fighter, Neutral
Description
A blonde high elf fighter wearing high elven studded leather armor and a dark green duelist’s cloak. He carries a high elven rapier at his side. His equipment is built for measured footwork, rapid thrusts, and the controlled precision of a practiced duelist.
Backstory
A serious student of every form of combat, he spent years comparing masters’ techniques, recording the limits of footwork, timing, reach, and nerve. Practice and simulation taught him much, but not what happens when a blade is aimed at his throat. He now seeks real-world application for his deadly art, joining adventurers who often need a steady hand and quick wits to rescue them from their own mistakes.
He is a member of the Lord’s Alliance, whose allied political powers pursue mutual security and prosperity. As a researcher, he usually knows where—and from whom—an unknown piece of information can be obtained. His life’s work is the Tome of Battle, a treatise gathering his theories on combat. Every duel, ambush, and battlefield lesson is another page waiting to be written.
Personality
He speaks in long, polysyllabic sentences, choosing elaborate terms when a simpler word would serve. Before a fight, he studies an opponent’s stance and explains what he sees aloud. He offers companions precise tactical advice, keeps careful notes after each battle, and treats every exchange of blows as a lesson worth preserving.
Flaws
He speaks before considering how his words will land. His corrections often sound like insults, and his attempts at intellectual precision can turn a simple disagreement into a public humiliation. He is slow to notice wounded pride, especially when he believes he has made an accurate observation.
Motivations
He believes knowledge is the surest path to power and self-improvement. He seeks opponents, mentors, and battlefields that will test the theories recorded in his Tome of Battle. He also wants the work recognized by the Lord’s Alliance as a practical contribution to the security of its allied powers.
