Lionel La Mort

Master of the Vampiric Gift, Dhampir, Lawful Evil

Description

A vampire who offers the gift of vampirism to those willing to serve him. He masks his predatory nature behind a handsome appearance and effortless charm. Every smile is measured, every kindness carries a price, and those who accept his gift become possessions before they become servants.

Backstory

Lionel learned early that hunger made people honest, while charm made them useful. He built his following by offering vampirism to the desperate, the ambitious, and the dying, presenting the curse as a privilege reserved for those he deemed worthy. Each new vampire received power, protection, and a place in his household—then discovered that the gift carried a lifetime of obedience. Lionel’s secret is that he fears becoming unwanted more than he fears death; every servant he creates is another person bound to remain with him.

Personality

Lionel speaks softly, using a person’s name often and pausing before every promise. He offers compliments like wine, letting his listener savor them before revealing the price. When angered, he never raises his voice; he simply stops smiling and begins issuing precise instructions. He expects obedience without reminders and treats resistance as a flaw he has the patience to correct.

Adventure Hooks

- Lionel offers a dying noble, beloved ally, or captured enemy the gift of vampirism, forcing the characters to decide whether to stop the transformation or bargain for its recipient’s freedom. - One of Lionel’s newly made vampires has escaped and begs the party to destroy the blood-bound contract that compels obedience. - Lionel asks the characters to retrieve a stolen reliquary containing the first drop of blood from every vampire he has created. If opened, it could sever his claim over them—or expose the party to his influence.
