Blackblood Bealrus

Blackblood Bealrus are predatory, amphibious creatures. They resemble a cross between a Grizzly Bear and a Walrus. They have thick brown fur. They have large walrus like tusks protruding from their mouths, which are backed by sharp strong teeth. They have long arms that end in webbed hands with 3 retractable sloth like talons on each. They have short legs that end in flippers, but they are capable of running bear-like across land for short distances with startling speed.

Their hunting grounds are often betrayed by scores of half-eaten fish or terrestrial animals all around their territory. They enjoy the thrill of the hunt more than the actual prey. They will gladly eat frozen carrion in lean times or move on to new hunting grounds.

They are always on the hunt, extremely territorial and easily enraged. They work in small sleuths of 3 or 4, typically males. Female Blackblood Bealrus are extremely protective of their young. What catches most adventurers unaware is their ability to run quickly across the land for short stretches. They aren't shy of using both their retractable talons and their their toothy maws in combat.
