Character

Unnamed Wolf-Raised Druid

Wood Elf, Druid, Neutral

Description

A wood elf shaped by years among wolves, with a lean, rangy build and a predator’s economy of movement. Their dark hair is tangled with pine needles and tied back with strips of hide. Their skin bears old scratches, pale scars, and streaks of ash and forest pigment. They wear a rough mantle of gray wolf fur over bark-brown leathers, with bone claws and teeth threaded into their gear. They watch from a crouch, sniff the air before entering a room, and keep their hands low as if ready to drop onto all fours. Their eyes track motion before faces, and their voice is rarely louder than a warning growl.

Backstory

Found beneath a fallen cedar before they could speak, the elf was carried into a wolf den and raised among the pack. They learned the forest through scent, posture, and the pressure of paws on frozen ground. Their first words were commands stolen from hunters; their first true language was the shifting chorus of the pack at dusk. A druid who found them years later taught them to shape the bodies they already understood, and the wolf became the first form that felt like home. Now they travel beyond the den when necessity demands it, carrying the pack’s lessons into a world of doors, crowded roads, and people who expect eye contact.

Personality

They sit near exits, sleep lightly, and circle unfamiliar camps before choosing a place to lie down. They communicate with short phrases, lowered ears, sharp glances, and a hand placed briefly against another person’s shoulder. They share food without being asked but dislike eating from plates. In wolf form, they become relaxed and expressive; in elf form, every gesture looks learned by imitation. They call trusted companions packmates and bristle when strangers touch their belongings.

Flaws

They mistake courtesy for submission and react badly when cornered, restrained, or surrounded by unfamiliar people. Spoken promises mean little to them unless backed by repeated action. They may abandon a conversation to follow a scent, answer a howl, or investigate a wounded animal. When frightened or ashamed, they shift into wolf form rather than explain themselves, leaving allies to guess what went wrong.

Motivations

They protect the forest that sheltered them and defend wild creatures from traps, poison, and needless cruelty. They seek a way to keep their wolf pack safe from hunters who have begun pressing deeper into its territory. They also want to understand whether an elf life can be lived without abandoning the instincts that kept them alive, or whether every visit to civilization is only a temporary disguise.
