Character

Elunara Vireth

Former smith and arsonist, Human, Sorcerer, Chaotic Neutral

Description

Ash-blonde hair with darker roots, usually tied back or singed at the edges. Skin with a faint, warm undertone — sun-touched rather than tanned. Eyes that shift between amber and copper depending on the light. The build of someone who's lived hard — defined shoulders, calloused hands that smell like sulfur. Burn scars on her forearms, old ones she doesn't bother hiding. Before prison, she dressed in deep reds and blacks, leather that could withstand flame. Now gaunt from poor rations and worse sleep in her cell, hair matted, but her eyes still feral — not broken. Not yet.

Backstory

Elunara was a smith's daughter in the industrial quarter of a mid-sized city. Her magic manifested young — sparks from her fingertips, heat that warped metal if she got frustrated. Her father, pragmatic, saw potential and taught her to channel it into the smithy's forge, to make her magic useful. For years it worked. She became the best metalworker in the district. Then a rival smith framed her for starting a warehouse fire that killed two people. She didn't do it, but in her fury at the accusation, she burned his shop to the ground. Twice. Once wasn't enough. She spent years evading authorities after that, moving through different cities, her temper leaving scorched buildings in her wake. She got caught during a riot — she'd set fire to a tax collector's office — and the magistrate decided to make an example of her. Now she sits in a cell counting down to execution.

Personality

Volatile and sharp-tongued. Elunara laughs when she's angry, which is often. She speaks in rapid bursts when agitated, her words tumbling out like flames from a kindled log. Calm, she's almost contemplative — dangerous in a different way. She holds grudges the way others hold breath, suffocating under them. Despite everything, she has a dark sense of humor and an odd respect for people who stand their ground against her.

Flaws

Her temper isn't a quirk — it's a liability. She burns bridges before thinking, destroys things out of spite, and struggles to consider consequences. She assumes malice where there might be misunderstanding. Trusts almost no one. Her pride makes her reckless — she'd rather die than back down, which is exactly what's about to happen.

Voice

Quick, clipped speech when emotional. Sarcasm is her default armor. Uses her hands when talking — gesturing expansively or clenching them into fists. Laughs sharp and loud. When truly angry, her voice drops to something almost quiet, and that's when people should be most afraid.

Motivations

Escape, obviously. But deeper than that — she wants to prove that magic isn't dangerous because she is, but because those in power fear what they can't control. She wants to survive long enough to show them they were right to be afraid.

Adventure Hooks

She has enemies in multiple cities who'd pay for her death. She might have allies from her years on the run — people she didn't burn. Her father might still be alive, unaware of what his daughter became. The rival smith who framed her is still out there, still prospering while she faces the rope.
