Vylara Uthryll
Deep Gnome, Cleric, Neutral Good
Description
Zyrryl stands just over three feet tall, her skin mottled like wet granite and her large obsidian eyes catching every shadow. Her bald scalp is etched with faint lines from years beneath stone ceilings. A hooked nose juts from a weathered face, marked by fine cracks and scars. She wears layered grey cloth dyed with clay and charcoal, cinched by a leather belt heavy with pouches and a pendant carved from a pale crystal that faintly pulses in the dark. Rough sandals reveal dirt-stained feet hardened by cave floors.
Backstory
Born in a claustrophobic deep gnome enclave, Zyrryl was raised in the relentless pull of old cavern traditions and ancestral worship. Early in life, she experienced a near-fatal cave-in that left her with a deep-rooted understanding of fragility and the value of mercy. Drawn to the healing rites of her people’s forgotten faiths, she trained as a cleric, seeking to mend both body and spirit. Her desire to aid others eventually drove her aboveground, where she now navigates unfamiliar lands, balancing the weight of her underground past with the needs of a wider, often indifferent world.
Personality
Zyrryl listens more than she speaks, her fingers often tapping rhythms on stone or her pendant when she’s deep in thought. She rarely rushes decisions, preferring to weigh the needs of others before acting but is fiercely protective when the vulnerable are threatened. She is quietly curious about the surface world yet remains wary of its unpredictable chaos. Zyrryl treats strangers with cautious kindness, extending help yet watching for signs of ill intent—fearful of failing those who depend on her guidance.
