Character

Unnamed Warforged

Warforged, Artificer, Neutral

Description

A Warforged built from mixed-species Ironwood and Bronzewood, with an Adamantine body etched in arcane runes made from Obdurium and Moonstone. Root-like cords braided with Darkwood wrap around stone and metal beneath the plating, forming musculature through an infused alchemical compound. Tubing and narrow vessels carry that compound through the frame as substitute blood and mechanical lubricant. At the center of the chest rests a dual-crafted arcane and dragonshard energy core, whose pulse powers both living-looking movement and precise machinery.

Backstory

The construct’s creator died before the final safeguards and maintenance protocols could be completed. Left with incomplete instructions and a failing workshop, it learned to inspect its own frame, identify damaged components, and rebuild what it could from salvaged materials. Each repair became a lesson: which mixtures kept the root-cords supple, which runes stabilized the energy core, and how much pressure the alchemical vessels could bear before they split. It now carries its creator’s tools and unfinished designs, repairing itself not only to survive, but to preserve the craft that made it.

Personality

Keeps a written maintenance log and records every repair with the date, materials used, and predicted failure point. Taps two metal fingers against its chest when calculating a solution, matching the rhythm of the dragonshard core. It treats damaged tools with more patience than damaged enemies, and asks direct questions when social customs waste time.

Flaws

Will continue working through critical damage if a repair might preserve its creator’s designs. It distrusts anyone who handles its core without permission and can mistake emotional hesitation for a mechanical fault to be corrected. When forced to choose between retreat and recovering a lost tool or component, it often chooses the component.

Motivations

To master self-repair well enough that no failure can permanently end its function. To recover its creator’s unfinished designs and determine whether the death was natural, accidental, or caused by sabotage. To prove that a creation built for battle can choose what it protects.
