Thistle Nimblespry

Thistle Nimblespry is a small Halfling woman with a round, expressive face, dark eyes, and dark curls that escape from beneath a crooked green cap. She wears a purple traveling coat over a deep-violet waistcoat, with a sky-blue scarf tucked at the collar, sturdy brown trousers, and soft leather boots made for dancing on tavern tables. A polished mandolin hangs at her side in a worn case covered with painted jokes, lucky marks, and the names of people who told her memorable stories. Her belt holds a tin whistle, chalk, spare strings, and a leather notebook stuffed with loose pages. She smiles as if she has just remembered the punchline, and she gestures with her whole body when telling a tale.

Thistle Nimblespry grew up above her family’s roadside inn, where travelers paid for supper with stories as often as coin. She discovered that the best stories were rarely the grand heroic epics. They were the ones about a knight who mistook a laundry line for a hanging rope, a wizard who sneezed during an important spell, or a proud merchant defeated by his own mule. There she studied history, law, languages, and the useful art of remembering exactly what powerful people said five minutes ago. Now she travels with her fiddle and a stack of notebooks, collecting stories that make people laugh when they need it most. She considers every side before taking action, but once she decides someone needs help, she finds a way to make the bully look foolish and the frightened crowd smile again.
