Celina Heart
Secretary to Town Clerk Sabina, Human, Lawful Good
Description
Celina Heart is a lovely human woman with neatly pinned brown hair, ink-stained fingers, and a dress kept tidy despite long days at the clerk’s desk. She carries a ring of office keys at her belt and checks each document twice before filing it. When work runs late, she slips a small wooden toy from her pocket and turns it over in her hand while thinking of her child.
Backstory
Celina took the secretary’s post after the child’s other parent left town, leaving her with a newborn and a pile of unpaid bills. Sabina gave her a place behind the clerk’s desk, where Celina learned the town’s records, schedules, and quiet disputes one document at a time. She now saves every spare copper toward a safer home for her child. Celina’s private fear is that one desperate choice—altering a record, accepting a bribe, or hiding a debt—could cost her the lawful life she is working so hard to build.
Personality
Celina speaks in a warm, measured voice and keeps a running list of promises in the margins of her paperwork. She will stay late to correct someone else’s mistake, but refuses gifts that might compromise the clerk’s office. When anxious, she smooths the same page three times before answering. She knows every family in town by name and remembers which ones need help before they ask.
Adventure Hooks
- A forged land deed passes through Celina’s hands, and its seal matches the town clerk’s own. She asks the characters to investigate without alerting the culprit. - Celina’s child disappears after a late workday, leaving behind a toy and a note written in official shorthand. - A wealthy petitioner offers Celina enough money to clear her debts if she misfiles one record. She refuses, but the petitioner threatens to expose a private detail from her past. - Sabina is accused of embezzlement after figures in the town ledger are altered. Celina knows the handwriting is not Sabina’s, yet proving it may reveal how closely Celina has been watched.
