Son of Lord Valerius
High Elf, Sorcerer, Neutral Good
Description
A high elf battlemage raised in the floating citadel realm of Aerion, dressed in an immaculate arcane war-coat threaded with silver sigils. His hands carry the faint glow of raw sorcery, and an artifact called the Twin Mirror rests at his side: a polished device that splits his reflection into weaponized doubles. His posture and controlled gaze mark him as a battlefield commander, while orbiting shards of illusionary glass hint at the precision and force of his magic.
Backstory
Born to Lord Valerius, Archmage of Aerion’s floating citadel realm, he spent his childhood among high-tier arcana, sealed libraries, and spell-tomes older than the citadel’s foundations. Tutors trained him to read a battlefield as carefully as a grimoire, but his innate sorcery soon outpaced formal lessons. He learned to bend perception first, then mastered the raw arcane force that made him dangerous at range.
As Battlemage Director and Master Illusionist, he now serves as the alliance’s tactical mind. He places false armies where none exist, hides the movement of real troops, and turns enemy certainty into hesitation before unleashing arcane artillery. His signature artifact, the Twin Mirror, creates a defensive burst of mirrored doubles capable of negating incoming attacks. In battle, he chains Twinned and Quickened spells to strike multiple targets or fire devastating magic before his enemies can recover.
Personality
He speaks in precise tactical terms, even when discussing ordinary matters, and marks promising plans by tapping two fingers against his spellbook’s spine. He studies a room before entering it, noting exits, sightlines, reflective surfaces, and anyone standing too close to a weapon. In council, he asks the question that exposes the plan’s weakest assumption. He rarely raises his voice; a quiet correction from him carries more weight than a shouted order.
Flaws
He trusts preparation more than instinct and can waste precious seconds searching for the perfect formation, spell sequence, or escape route. Failure cuts deeply because he fears proving that his position came from his father’s name rather than his own talent. He also treats deception as a tool before considering its human cost, and allies may discover too late that he has kept them uninformed so their reactions would remain believable.
Motivations
He intends to make Aerion’s alliance impossible to defeat through superior coordination, not reckless displays of power. Every battle is a chance to prove that illusion can save more lives than brute force, and every victory chips away at the suspicion that Lord Valerius placed him in command as a favor. Beneath that ambition lies a private fear: if Aerion ever falls, he will be remembered as the archmage’s son who possessed every book and still failed to protect the people beneath the citadel.
